Mazak U44 Space Gear - 7-Axis 3D Laser Machining System
Rapid 2D and 3D Laser Machining
The Mazak SG U-44 is designed for rapid laser machining of 4' x 4' flat sheet or plate stock up to 7/8" thick (mild steel) in the 2D mode.

With its versatile 6-axis cutting torch and 7th axis (rotary), it can quickly machine 3D parts such as uniframe housings, "I", "U" and "C" channel, square, triangular and round tubing, and hydro-formed, stamped or spun pre-formed parts.

3D cutting capacity is: X Axis = 35.4", Y Axis = 35.4", Z Axis = 9.6", A Axis = 360°, B Axis = 135°, Rotary Axis

With these capabilities we are able to quickly cut, profile, drill, countersink and bevel contoured parts and complex geometries.

The rotary feeder allows it to accomodate loading and laser machining of long 3D material.

Production Advantages
The SG U-44 can make quick work of panels, sheet metal and shaped parts by cutting precise profiles, drilling, countersinking and beveling all in one operation.

Complex fixtures and tooling is not usually required due to the lack of material loading during the laser machining process. Set up and break down times are short enough to make smaller production runs and prototyping feasible.

Mazak's Space CAM and FG CAD/CAM software can generate NC code directly from 3D CAD files as well as generate a program to build a box-crate fixture from surface data, further streamlining the production process.
